Hi. I'm Tom. I grew up in the Surrey hills and now I live in Bristol, where I work as an arts producer and theatre maker. I share my time between a number of ongoing collaborations, which you can find out more about here.
I also occasionally work on one-off projects as a producer, mentor, writer or creative outside eye. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.
Verity Standen is a Bristol-based composer, performer and musical director. Her work explores the human voice and how it can be celebrated and transformed through live performance.
I produce all of Verity's work, which includes research and development, fundraising, tour booking and company management. To date, this has included the development and UK touring of the a cappella trio piece Mmm Hmmm (which has played everywhere from the National Theatre's Riverstage to village halls in the Outer Hebrides), the creation of Symphony, and the ongoing management of Verity's immersive choral piece HUG. After winning the Off West End TBC Award, and thanks to inclusion in the British Council Edinburgh Showcase 2015, HUG began international touring in 2016 - we formed new choirs to perform the piece in Poland, China and the Czech Republic.
Verity has a number of new works and commissions in development. Please take a look at her website, and contact me if you would like to discuss any aspect of Verity's work. veritystanden.com
As an artist, I can usually be found with FINE CHISEL - the theatre company and folk band I founded in 2010. With Fine Chisel, I've won a Fringe First, a Three Weeks Editors' Award and the MTN Award for Innovation.
I direct and produce all of the company's shows (and sometimes perform too). We've toured to theatres and arts centres across the UK, but more often you'll find us playing in pubs, village halls, schools and festivals, or out on the streets busking.
If you'd like to find out more about Fine Chisel, please head to our website. And feel free to contact me if you'd like to talk about bookings, gigs, commissions or anything else. finechisel.co.uk
I am currently working with a group of associated artists, creatives, producers and curators to explore new ways to support the birth and growth of artistic ideas across the region of Avon (North Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset). Between the group, we carry experience of producing small and large-scale theatre productions, music events, installations, permanent sculptures, regeneration projects and cross-city festivals. Terrestrial is the working title of the work we are undertaking together, and is currently in an early research phase. We hope to share our findings later in 2017.
